Our Partners
Taking Texas Tobacco Free is a comprehensive, evidence-based tobacco-free workplace program that has evolved across 9 CPRIT funded awards (PP130032, PP160081, PP170070, PP200051, PP210003, PP210026, PP230002, PP230003, and PP230078) to partner with a variety of organizations who serve populations with elevated tobacco use rates (e.g., individuals with substance use disorders, mental health issues, people living in rural areas, and individuals experiencing homelessness). Through our interdisciplinary and collaborative work with our partners, we work to develop and/or strengthen center infrastructures to support the delivery of the most appropriate cancer prevention services targeting tobacco-use reduction and intervention. Enhancing capacity for, and the provision of, evidence-based practices within partnering agencies has been and is accomplished by: 1) ongoing educational opportunities and specialized tobacco cessation trainings for staff, 2) guidance on developing and implementing comprehensive tobacco-free policies, 3) various educational resources for distribution at facilities, and 4) community outreach opportunities. Across all our past grants and ongoing work, we strive to have a tremendous impact in preventing tobacco-related cancers among highly vulnerable groups of Texans.
